The basement build-out at the Old Island Golf Community has been complete for over a month so I thought it was about time to add the finish pictures to our Portfolio. There are several pictures including the bedroom, living area, and theater in addition to the kitchen shown here. If you have a similar project in mind, give us a call at (423) 384-4727 or e-mail us at

If you know me, you know I joke a lot; but, when it’s time to be serious about work, the joking goes to the back burner. The one thing I am very serious about is how I treat my clients. I have always been conscientious about giving the best service possible. When I received the following recommendation from a client and friend, I was humbled and felt it deserved passing on beyond LinkedIn.

Thanks, Lois! The check is in the mail. Seriously, I appreciate the kind words and hope that I can always measure up.
The basement build-out at the Old Island Lifestyle Community is now complete. We wrapped it up over a week ago and have moved on to a project for the City of Kingsport and an outdoor living area in Bristol, Tennessee. As soon as the homeowners complete their decorating and placing their furnishings, we will be taking pictures and posting to our Portfolio page.
The outdoor living space in Bristol is well underway with the limestone walls and fireplace almost complete. The picture to the left is the heavy limestone slabs that will be the steps leading to the patios (a main patio and a smaller upper patio). The Pennsylvania Lilac stone for the patios will be delivered mid-week as we continue to move forward. This is truly going to be the swan song to this renovation project. The homeowner has previously done a complete restoration of this 1920’s house with much attention to detail.
The project also includes widening a shared driveway, laying a limestone wall in front of the house, and capping the chimney and adding historic chimney pots.

Take a minute and watch this video of the subfloor product we have used for years! I always knew this product was great! Years ago, we were building a house and were framing the walls. I spilled a soft drink on the Advantech® subfloor. It puddled up and stayed there all day without soaking into the wood. At that point, I was sold. It is almost impossible to get new construction under roof (dried in) without it getting rained on (or snowed on, depending on the season). Old fashioned plywood subfloors can delaminate or swell causing difficulties when it comes time to lay hardwood, ceramic tile, or vinyl flooring. In the day when carpet was more common, this was not much of an issue. Today there are many new products, such as Advantech®, that enhance the quality of the final product. With a conscientious builder who values quality, exceeds CODE (minimum requirements), and uses only the best materials, your project can last a lifetime … and beyond.
The basement build-out project at Old Island is nearing completion. I’m hopeful that an invitation will be forthcoming from the homeowners to the inaugural movie screening in the new home theater. Soon we will have Elliott Enterprises installing granite in the kitchen as well as DPM Carpet and Flooring installing the carpet in the theater.

The Brazilian Cherry engineered hardwood flooring is a beautiful contrast to the tan walls – actually Cincinnatian Hotel Carl Tan. Where do they come up with these paint names? When the granite is in and the tile backsplash done, the main living areas will be complete. We are starting the painting in the theater and it should be complete soon as well. The project will be posted to our Portfolio soon.
We just contracted to construct an outdoor living space at the rear of a historic home in Bristol. It will consist of a limestone sitting wall, post lanterns, stone courtyard, and a fireplace with a brick oven. We are also under contract to build a deck at the Kingsport Animal Shelter, a four-level deck in the Rock Springs area, and finally a Perennial Wood deck at my own home. Let us know if we can assist with your next project.
